Tri NZ Media Release

• Official Medical Imaging Partner of Tri NZ unveiled
• Partnership includes naming rights sponsorship of the
Bay Radiology NZ Schools Championship
• NZ’s leading private radiology provider to become NZL Mixed Team Relay partner

Agreement includes NZ Schools and Mixed Team Relay touch points

Auckland (November 24, 2023) – RCHNZ Medical Imaging Group, New Zealand’s leading private radiology provider, has joined Tri NZ’s growing stable of official partners.

The agreement will see RCHNZ become the Official Medical Imaging Partner of Tri NZ with touch points for three of its iconic brands – Auckland Radiology, Bay Radiology and Pacific Radiology – across the sport including the critical junior development pathway.

In addition to becoming an official sponsor of Tri NZ, and the Elite and U23 NZL Mixed Relay teams on the World Triathlon circuit, Tauranga-based Bay Radiology has also become official naming rights sponsor of the 2024 Bay Radiology NZ Schools Championship.

Auckland Radiology, Bay Radiology and Pacific Radiology branding will also be visible at different events throughout the just announced Triathlon Summer Series.

Tri NZ CEO Pete De Wet says the RHCNZ deal is a natural fit for community with high health expectations. While branding on the Mixed Team Relay suits will garner international attention, it is the Tri NZ community connection with RHCNZ’s network of more than 140 specialist radiologists across 73 clinics nationwide that most excites De Wet.

“I’m thrilled to have RHCNZ and their associated radiology brands on board. Medical imaging and radiology plays such an important part in the life of not only active athletes but everyday Kiwis seeking healthier lifestyles,” De Wet said.

“Getting great sponsors like RHCNZ on board signals that our sport is seen as a desirable one to partner with. This adds further evidence to the positive way that Tri NZ and triathlon is perceived.

“As we gear up for a big year in triathlon, we’re delighted to have RHCNZ Medical Imaging Group with us on this exciting journey.”

RHCNZ Medical Imaging Group CEO, Terry McLaughlin, is proud to be aligned with not only Tri NZ but also a health-conscious sport.

“Through our partnership with Tri NZ, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles,” McLaughlin said.

“With its inclusive nature and diverse participant base, triathlon perfectly aligns with our core purpose. Medical imaging plays a crucial role in aiding triathletes at all levels recover from injury, facilitating their swift return to competition.”

St Kentigern’s Olivia Rooney captured the senior girls title at last year’s NZ Schools Championships. The 2024 edition will be known as the Bay Radiology NZ Schools Championships.

McLaughlin is thrilled RHCNZ Medical Imaging Group can also contribute at opposite ends of the triathlon spectrum.

“Becoming the primary sponsor of the NZ Schools Championships is a source of immense pride. It’s an opportunity to nurture NZ’s promising young sporting talent,” McLaughlin continued

“Our involvement in the NZ Elite and U23 Mixed Relay teams is equally exciting. We are proud advocates of gender equality in sports, proud to witness NZ men and women competing together on the global stage and especially look forward to the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.”

The RCHNZ Medical Imaging Group agreement comes hot on the heels of pioneering Hamilton-based Radix Nutrition becoming an official sponsor of the NZ Mixed Relay Team, joining longtime Tri NZ partner Suzuki NZ.
