Triathlon New Zealand provides event accreditation to triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon, aquabike, cross triathlon and other related multisport events to ensure they are delivered in a safe and fair environment. 

There are two levels of accreditation that include a range of benefits ranging from technical support to promotional leverage. Each level of accreditation aims to:

  • give added value to event organisers
  • enhance the quality of events
  • build a strong and connected network of event providers
  • promote and leverage triathlon events nationwide

Tri NZ Event Accreditation System August 2021

Any triathlon event that is accredited can purchase the following add-ons at the additional price (GST exclusive):

  • Competitive Event Insurance – up to $1000 reduction on market rate (depending on event)
  • On the ground officials/community ambassador – $300 for out of town, $150 for local

EAS Event Requirement Guidelines:

All Tri NZ Affiliated Clubs are required to endorse all club operated events through the Club Event Endorsement process.

Promotion

Use of sanctioned logo; proof that event is safe, fair and delivered to the highest standard

  • Promotion through Triathlon New Zealand’s social and media networks.
  • News feature in TRIBE Newsletter (fortnightly newsletter to 12000+ subscribers)
  • Any media release provided by event organiser shared through Tri NZ Facebook page
  • Link to event in fortnightly TRIBE newsletter

Technical Support

  • 1 x Technical Delegate for duration of event and two months prior
  • A detailed review of event information i.e. Transition plans, Medical, Traffic Management
  • Support during Health and Safety Auditing process
  • Post event report
  • Monitoring and enforcement of Tri NZ Competition Rules by Technical Officials
  • Tri NZ Technical Manager available for advice and support pre-event
  • Access to Tri NZ Event Guidelines

Cost

  • $1,200 +GST (Triathlon events)
  • $500 + GST (Duathlon, Aquathon and Cross-Tri events)
  • $150 for local official +GST
  • $300 for out of town official +GST
  • Number of officials to be decided in consultation with Tri NZ Community Manager and Technical Delegate.

Requirements
Completed Endorsed Application Form with basic event details, to be submitted no later than one month before the date of the event. This will be reviewed and feedback provided on any improvements/changes required for the standard to be met.

Documents needed to be submitted with application:

  • Traffic Management Plan
  • Health and Safety Plan
  • Course Maps
  • Insurance Certificate

Promotion
Triathlon NZ will promote each Endorsed event through their Social Media Networks, based off the required information provided (Information required outlined in separate sheet).

These promotions will consist of:

  • One Facebook post promoted through Triathlon NZ Community FB Page (not a paid promotion)
  • One sub-feature in TRIBE (fortnightly newsletter)
  • One media release provided by event organiser shared through Triathlon NZ Media Networks
  • Link to event in TRIBE calendar
  • Event added to the Tri NZ Event Calendar on website

Technical Support

  • Letter of accreditation from Triathlon NZ to acknowledge standards met
  • Access to Tri NZ Event Guidelines

Cost

  • $100 +GST
  • $150 for local official +GST
  • $300 for out of town official +GST
