Since 2010, athletes of all levels from around the world have gathered on the shores of Ngāmotu beach, ready to race after months of intense training. Adrenalin pumping and minds focused, the anticipation builds as competitors and spectators await the whistle to kick off the Tri Taranaki Festival.
The New Plymouth ITU World Cup features the world’s top triathletes, and will be one of the last qualifying event for the Tokyo Olympics. The festival will also feature the Tri NZ Suzuki North Island Sprint Triathlon Championships, all competing to qualify for the 2021 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final.
But this weekend isn’t just for the world’s top athletes. Our Taranaki Tri-er and Fun Run events are for anyone who wants to give the sport a go and raise funds for a local charity!
