The league formerly known as Super League Triathlon has new venues and an extended schedule to go with its new name.
supertri, lower case S intentional, released its season VI calendar overnight with Boston and Chicago set to launch the rebranded, five race series on back-to-back weekends in August.
Traditional venues London and Toulouse return before the supertri finale in Saudi Arabia’s NEOM on November 3.
Gone from last season’s schedule is Malibu but North America is well represented with supertri Boston (August 18) and supertri Chicago (August 25) set to give short course tri a fresh, post Paris Olympics pick-me-up.
Supertri Season VI
August 18: supertri Boston
August 25: supertri Chicago
September 8: supertri London
October 6: supertri Toulouse
November 3: supertri NEOM
Kiwis Hayden Wilde, Nicole van der Kaay and Tayler Reid have been regulars on the supertri circuit although squads for 2024 have not been released. It will be interesting to see if Dylan McCullough’s rise will trigger any interest from any of the franchises. What is confirmed for the new reason is the return of supertri’s trademark formats incorporating three continuous rounds of rapid-fire, full gas swim-bike-run.
Both North American events are part of supertri’s commitment to grow short course triathlon ahead of the LA ’28 Olympics.
Boston and Chicago are to offer age groupers the chance to experience supertri racing with mass participant races at both races.
Owned and operated by supertri, Chicago Triathlon is already the largest urban triathlon in the United States. Hosting more than 8,500 athletes and thousands of spectators, it recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. The supertri race in Boston will be part of the famous Boston Triathlon.
“supertri has set the benchmark for triathlon and turned the passion of our founders of creating a true spectator sport into a reality. Our vision is to ‘Inspire The Competitor In Everyone’, and nobody does this better than the amazing professional athletes that will come into supertri off the back of the Olympics and be ready to go all in from the start,”said supertri CEO and Co-Founder, Michael D’hulst.
“We are focussed on growth in key markets, and having two events in the USA is a significant step forward, as we visit iconic locations and also have the opportunity to truly inspire by bringing the supertri stardust to mass participation events. We can then look forward to continuing to build our established successful footprints in London, Toulouse and NEOM after several years of working hard to scale those events together with our valued partners.”
