Not only that, you can qualify for the World Championships as an age grouper and compete alongside the elite events at the World Triathlon Championships in Woollongong, Australia from the 15-19th October 2025. No one knows age group World Champs racing better than Garth Barfoot, multiple-time NZ representative and flag bearer. The Garth Barfoot prize offering

Garth Barfoot is generously supporting the Standard Distance Triathlon for the 2025 World Championships in Wollongong, Australia. These prize packages will be made available to athletes who meet the criteria and have qualified for the Tri NZ Age-Group Team of 2025. The first male and female in each Age Group category in the 2024-2025 Tri NZ Suzuki Series Standard Distance National Championship race will receive an accommodation subsidy of $750 for the 2025 World Championships, Wollongong, Australia on the 15th to 19th October 2025. In addition to this if there are 10+ starters in an Age Group on race day the $750 accommodation subsidy will be made available to the 2nd placegetter, and if there are 20+ starters in an Age Group on race day the $750 accommodation subsidy will be made available to the 3rd placegetter. This will continue down in multiples of 10 i.e. 30+, 40+ starters. Please ensure you read all terms and conditions.

How do you qualify?

The one and only qualifier for the Standard Distance World Championship event is at the Tri NZ Suzuki Series Standard Distance Triathlon, held at the Tinman Triathlon event.
