I am interested in athletic performance, particularly for endurance athletes in challenging environments. My approach to coaching is inquisitive and creative, accepting that there are many different ways for an individual to realise their full potential.
I work for Coastguard New Zealand full time and moonlight as a swim coach at QEII and as a Performance Physiologist for Triathlon New Zealand. In my spare time I coach Kayaking, Triathlon and Surf Lifesaving in Christchurch.
I trained as a Navy Diver with the Royal New Zealand Navy from 2016-9. Previously I worked with the Triathlon New Zealand High Performance programme from 2007-2014, specifically the Beijing 2008 Olympics, London 2012 Olympics, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and every World Championships event from 2009-2014. Concurrently I wrote a PhD in Exercise and Environmental Physiology at Otago University from 2009-19. Prior to 2007 I worked with New Zealand High Performance programmes in: rowing, track cycling, swimming, athletics, triathlon, cricket, multisport, basketball, swimming, and softball.
