Richie started his professional career as a personal training coach for health & fitness 10 years ago. He lives and breathes fitness in the Queenstown region working full time with general public on their lifestyle goals and athletes who want to make improvements in their specific sports.
Over the last 10 years, living in Queenstown, he has progressed from an avid mountain biker to a passionate triathlete and will normally find him swimming in the cold waters of the Wakatipu or biking in the surrounding hills.
Over the last 8 years he has competed in numerous events around the lakes region with competitive placings within age group categories. Since the birth of his daughter two years ago, Richie now concentrates more on helping others achieving their goals and working on personal fitness achievements using the terrain and landscape around as his playground.
Richie has worked as a personal trainer for the last 10 years and is in the process of opening his own facility within Queenstown.
For the last 5 years Richie has coached athletes in triathlon, bike and run events with positive athlete performance. He mostly works with adults of all levels from first timers who need more guidance and advice to the more experienced athlete looking to create that extra edge. The majority of clients would be individuals who are aiming to complete an event for the first time or looking to be more competitive within their age group category.
Coaching is limited to 10 athletes at any one time. This allows appropriate time and planning for each athlete’s life situation, needs, and aspirations. Each program is individually tailored, monitored and adjusted, if needed, based on an athlete’s progress along the way.
Recent athlete successes include:
– Top 10 overall finish in the international North Face 100 ultrarun in Australia.
– Qualification for Xterra World Champs in Hawaii in November – qualifying at the Motatapu Xterra xc triathlon event in March 2015.
