Andrew Mackay is the head coach and founder of Boost Coaching. Individually he has supported hundreds of athletes toward goals both through specific coaching programs or 1:1 lessons or consultations.
Andrew’s background is competitive swimming where he competed successfully at a National Level before moving into triathlons.
Andrew started triathlons in 2004 as an age group competitor and has worked and trained alongside some of New Zealand’s top coaches and athletes. He competed professionally between 2006-2009 and raced in the pro field at the 2009 Ironman Champs in Hawaii.
I’ve worked with a range of athletes aging from 14 years old to late 50s. Many of the athletes I work with are training for Half and Ironman distance events but also a number that are training for sprint & standard distance triathlons as well as endurance running and cycling events.
I am used to working with busy people and have successfully helped people balance life – Family/ work/ education/ sports all take lots of time but all are very important. I work with each person to find that fine line where you can do it all successfully.
You will find an athlete that is just like you – Mum’s and Dad’s, Husbands and Wives, career oriented professionals that are leaders in the work they do, as well as students and aspiring professional athletes! Read more about some of these people
In regards to triathlon I have a strong knowledge and application in each of the three disciplines but one of the specific areas I have a very strong background on is, SWIMMING.
I have successfully worked with professional athletes, adults learning to swim and individuals just simply wanting to improve. Learn more about the services I offer including 1:1 swim lessons, open water swim training and more by visiting
Competitive Experience in Triathlon:
Boost Coaching offers coaching solutions for the urban athlete to prepare for event goals. We believe in a personable approach delivered professionally.
My thorough approach covers off setting a realistic program, identifying training objectives, setting training zones, data analysis, race day nutrition, race day strategy and more.
As I started right from the beginning and progressed through to racing professionally I have a great knowledge in triathlon and have passed on this wisdom to many others that I have worked with to help short-cut the learning process and achieve amazing results.
I have also had many of my own athletes represent NZ, achieve world champ qualification, attain personal bests and for some simply cross a finish line the best they could was their motivation to work with me.
