Tri NZ are very excited to announce the Suzuki National Series 2020/21. This is an exciting new national format, that has been designed in partnership with the community and our event providers to respond to Covid and ensure our events are as accessible as possible for the upcoming season.

Delivering a North Island and South Island event for each distance, this season will not only deliver great participation opportunities, but will also continue to provide amazing opportunities to qualify for the NZ Age Group Team, and win great prizes – THANKS TO OUR AMAZING PARTNERS Suzuki NZ, 2XU and Asics.

 

Covid brought with it major changes and uncertainty, including access issues, personal circumstances changes, and travel impacts. The Suzuki National Series aims to combat these issues to ensure loads of our amazing triathletes and people from all around NZ can get back to enjoying our sport and competing!

 

… But how will there be a National Champion with only North and South Island events?? I hear you ask….Well… Not only will we crown North Island and South Island Champions, we are also excited to announce the 2XU ULTIMATE SERIES CHAMPION.

 

This amazing prize will be given to the First Place male and First Place female for each age group based on a Series Points System. This points framework will celebrate those athletes that get out and compete in multiple in the series.

*Triathlon New Zealand reserves the right to add or remove events from the 2020/21 Triathlon New Zealand Suzuki National Series which incorporates the North and South Island Championships events at any time without notice period. Any changes will be updated on the Triathlon New Zealand Website.

Open to our awesome age group athletes, this National title will be awarded to the top male and female in each age group across all events within the Suzuki National Series.

 

The 2XU ULTIMATE SERIES CHAMPION is s truly national title, that will be awarded to the first-place male and first place female for each age group based on a points system. An athlete’s best three results from any event within the series will be calculated, using the acclaimed Thorsten Radde points system, to establish the Series Champion.

Due to both ITU World Championships being postponed until 2021, Tri NZ is also pleased to announce that all athletes who have qualified for the 2020 events will retain their spots for 2021 so long as they validate their spot by competing in one equivalent race in the Suzuki National Series. 

 

All events within the National Series be qualifying races for the World Champs, the selection policy aligned to the new series is available here.

Suzuki – After over 10 years of supporting Triathlon in NZ Suzuki have once again got a Suzuki Swift up for grabs at the end of the season. A representative will be selected from each of the Suzuki National Series events, and a final sport provided to one of our ULTIMATE SERIES CHAMPIONS – full details available here
