Ainsley Thorpe comes from a strong sporting family and is from Auckland but is currently based in Cambridge. Ainsley earned her first World Cup podium in 2019 and is part of the team that won World Triathlon Series in Edmonton and U23 World Championships at the Mixed Team Relay (MTR) event. Best Achievements: Antwerp World Cup bronze medal in 2019. Edmonton WTS MTR Gold 2019. U23 World Championship Mixed Team Relay Gold 2019. Oceania Sprint Champion 2020. Reason for getting into tri: Ainsley followed the footsteps of her older brother at the age of 16. They both come from a swim/run background. Most influential people in her career: Her grandparents are the most influential because they are her biggest supporters and watch her race around the world. Hobbies: Spending time with friends and her little nieces Scarlett and Addie. Advice for young athletes: “Consistency is key. Don’t do too much training too soon cause you might not be able to maintain it. Progress slowly especially with your running.”
